Castello di Gabbiano early records indicate that it was built in 1100 AD to protect on of the most important trade routes between Florence and Siena. The existence of a wine cellar with vaulted ceiling dating form the very beginning of the Castle’s life, indicates that Castello di Gabbiano has been a wine producer estate ever since its conception in the XIIth century.
Throughout the ages the initial tower was built upon into a fortress with four rounded towers with French architectural influence as it stands today. The private chapel by the castle dates instead from the XIXth century.
Castello di Gabbiano is located in San Casciano Val di Pesa, a few minutes car drive to Florence and about a half an hour drive from Siena.
