During summer time, the borgo (hamlet) of Cennina is site of conferences, plays, exhibitions and concerts starting at 9 pm in the evening, where you can enjoy Tuscany at its most under the stars while you listen to classical music.
Not least impressive is the Castle of Cennina, which was founded on the remains of Etruscan and Roman ruins during the 12th century by the Ghibelline count Alberico d’Uguccione Brandaglia. It later became object of furious contentions between Siena, Arezzo and Firenze whose borders all met in the Val d’Ambra. Cennina became part of the Comune of Bucine (County of Bucine) during 1173 by Duke Leopold’s reform and still today holds a great historical and architectural value.
Paolo Rossi (famous soccer player that scored the three winning goals for Italy during the World Championship’s last match in 1982 in Spain) and his partner and friend Luigi Pelaggi chose Poggio Cennina as the place to make their dreams come true. Their main objective being to create a healthy retreat, far from the humdrum of daily life, where the passage of time is marked by the rising and setting of the sun and the coming and going of the seasons in their different colours.

Poggio Cennina was created on organic principles where nature takes precedence over everything else. Sixty-four hectares (160 acres) of woods, vines, olives and fruit-trees surround the property. Not only can you take the opportunity to walk through the woods to discover the hidden lake, but you can also taste the farm’s superlative red wine and olive oil where the local micro-climate and terroir in hand with organic agriculture and the advice of experts result in elegant balanced products each with a definite personality for you to discover.
Sports-lovers will find a swimming-pool and Jacuzzi amongst the greenery.
