The Castle of La Selva, built in 1134, was the last Florentine post protecting the Valdambra, or Valley of the river Ambra, bordering the provinces of Siena and Florence.
The Castle formed part of the Medici empire and was destroyed in the 16th century by a French and Sienese army. It was rebuilt in the 18th century and remodelled several times after that.
the farmhouse of Villa Felciai was built in the early 1200s by the Grand Duc of Tuscany Leopoldo II of Lorena, and its typical architectural style is known as Leopoldina. This secular estate is found at the heart of the LA SELVA estate, nestled in between the Chianti Classico and the Crete Senese.
This traditional farmhouse in Tuscany is perched atop of a hill with 360 degree views and its own private pool, pergola and loggia. Villa Felciai has been restored and decorated to the comforts of modern standards, while maintaining intact its original architectural features within the respect of traditional Tuscan style.

During your stay at Villa Felciai you may encounter deer, ram, hare, wild boar and of course horses, as the owners, the Carpini Family, are lovers of horses and have several that pasture in their lands.
While enjoying your vacation in this magnificent villa in Tuscany, you can choose to traverse the rolling hills by car, by horse, by bicycle, or by foot! There are a myriad of paths in the woods each of them leading you to a new encounter with nature. If you are more interested in cultural relaxing days, you might decide to visit Florence, only one hour away, or even Siena, the paradigm of the middle ages towns within 20 minutes car ride.
Villa Felciai is divided into two main floors with a small loft. On the ground floor the house entrance expands into the common recreational rooms.
Upon walking through the entrance hallway, the house expands into a spacious living room ensconced within marvellous structural arches typical Tuscan architecture.

The ground floor also dons a lavish dining room that merges with the land that surrounds its glassed walls opens up to the right of the living room, which is surrounded by a TV sitting room, a well equipped kitchen with a homey dining table and chimney, and four of the main bedrooms and bathrooms.

On the second floor, a wide stone staircase opens up into a distribution hallway decorated with a pair of 19th century chairs and other antiques. There are four bedrooms with queen size beds, one of which has a small loft division with two twin beds. There is also one bedroom with two twin size beds. Every room has its own colourfully decorated full bathroom.

Il Torrino (the annex) is yet one of the many charms of Villa Felciai. This annex sleeps four in full privacy while allowing for a wonderful shared vacation in every other aspect. You can also share some good Tuscan prosciutto, sheep cheese (pecorino) and Chianti Classico under the shade and perfume of the wisteria arbour.

You can also live the luxury and delicate taste of the main house within the privacy of Il Torrino, with one bedroom with a king size bed and bathroom in suite and one with a queen size bed with roomy walk-in closets and bathroom with bathtub. Again Il Torrino has been restored and decorated in luxury, charm and practicality.
The Annex has its own fully equipped kitchen and cosy dining area in case you want to enjoy some peace and quiet separated from the main villa.
