This quaint one bedroom holiday rental Tuscany is only 25 km from Siena, in an unique setting on a hilltop surrounded by an incredible palette of colours resulting from the vineyards, woods and olive orchards that enhance the landscape. Apartment Nonna Marianna is located in San Gusmè in Chianti, in the province of Siena. This medieval walled town, whose original name is San Cosma e Damiano, Saint of the local church that dates back to the 11th century, was a fortress located between the Replublics of Siena and Florence.
Nowadays, the bastion’s walls are still intact and you enter the village by the original “doors”, which lead onto stone paved streets and squares or piazze full of different colour geraniums hanging from every window. As cars rarely enter the hamlet, other than to load or unload, the only sounds you hear are the beautiful melody of village life and the country side surrounding it.
This inherently Tuscan apartment, and the building that hosts it, have been recently completely restored, maintaining its original characteristics such as antique tiled floors and wooded beamed ceilings.
This accommodation in Tuscany is on a first floor, after a short flight of stairs, after which an ancient beautiful wooden door leads into the apartment’s living room with a sofa-bed and a TV which connects to the dining area and kitchen. In order to allow for some privacy the sleeping quarters, master bedroom and bathroom, are separated from the rest of the apartment by a door.

Not far down the hill, only 5 km away, in the town of Castelnuovo Berardenga, you can find pharmacy, banks, ATM’s, supermarkets, many more fantastic restaurants and wine-bars, and all the services you would expect from a small town.
