San Giovanni di Arceno is one of the farmhouses immersed in what was once known as the estate of Villa Arceno. Its history goes back to Etruscan times, later flourishing in the XVII and XIX centuries when owned by the important and influential families such as the Piccolomini Clementini’s. In particular during the XIX century the main Villa Arceno, today a luxury hotel, and its parks and gardens, have been re-designed and improved, adding for example a one kilometre (2/3 mile) long cypress lane (200 year old trees) that is a breathtakingly beautiful to roam and linger during outdoor walks.
San Giovanni di Arceno is in the county of Castelnuovo Berardegna, province of Siena, in the Chianti Classico region. In fact,when staying in this absolutely charming country house, you will relish in its private, almost secret garden, amidst rollling hills of vineyards and olive orchards. Above the small distribution are atop the stairs there is another loft room with a second and independent twin size bed. Note that this room is accessed with a steep ladder.
